Homes for sale in Taylorsville, Utah
Central-valley value with a 15-minute commute in every direction
Area overview
Taylorsville is the city for buyers who want to be in the middle of everything in Salt Lake County without paying east-bench prices. It sits in the center of the valley between I-215 and Bangerter Highway, roughly 10 miles southwest of downtown Salt Lake, and about 47,000 people call it home. The city incorporated in 1996 out of what had been unincorporated Taylorsville-Bennion, so most of the housing is 1960s-1990s — brick ramblers, split-levels, and two-stories on quarter-acre lots with mature trees. For a first-time buyer or an investor, it's one of the most practical cities in the county. The neighborhoods are mostly established and residential. The east side near the Jordan River and I-215 has the older ramblers and some of the larger lots, with the Jordan River Parkway trail running the length of the city. The central neighborhoods around Taylorsville High and the city center are classic 1970s-80s family streets. The west side toward Bangerter and West Valley has a mix of newer townhomes and the city's commercial corridor along Redwood Road and 5400 South. Salt Lake Community College's main Taylorsville Redwood Campus is the city's biggest institution, and the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, opened in 2021, gave the city a cultural anchor it never had before. Taylorsville is in Granite School District, with Taylorsville High and Eisenhower and Bennion junior highs in town plus a half-dozen elementaries. Family life revolves around the Taylorsville Recreation Center, Valley Regional Park, the Taylorsville-Bennion Heritage Center, and Taylorsville Dayzz, the June celebration with one of the valley's bigger fireworks shows. Being central means skiing in the Cottonwoods is 30-35 minutes, the airport is 15, and downtown is 15-20 by car — few cities in the county are this convenient. The median is around $450K, with homes averaging about 20 days on market — among the lowest medians in Salt Lake County, and that buys a solid 3-4 bedroom brick home with a yard. Updated ramblers run $400K-$500K, larger two-stories and homes near the river go $500K-$600K, and townhomes start in the low $300s. The trade-off is age: most homes need or have had updates, and you won't find new master-planned communities here. For buyers priced out of Murray, Sandy, or Holladay who still want a short commute, Taylorsville is where the math works, and well-updated homes here move fast.
Lifestyle
Salt Lake Community College, the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, the Jordan River Parkway, Taylorsville Dayzz fireworks, and a central location 15-20 minutes from downtown, the airport, and the Cottonwood canyons.
