Homes for sale in Millcreek, Utah
Eclectic character and canyon proximity
Area overview
Millcreek became its own incorporated city in 2016 after decades as an unincorporated township, and that civic identity shift has brought new energy, investment, and pride to a community that was already one of the Salt Lake Valley's best-kept secrets. Situated between Salt Lake City and Holladay on the east side, Millcreek offers a unique blend of urban convenience and canyon access that's hard to replicate anywhere else in the valley. Canyon Rim is the standout neighborhood — perched on the east bench with Millcreek Canyon literally at its doorstep, offering homes with mountain views and direct trail access. Millcreek Hollow provides established family homes with mature trees and a walkable feel. The Brickyard area has become a vibrant commercial and residential hub with restaurants, shops, and newer mixed-use developments. Meadowbrook on the west side offers more affordable homes with easy freeway access, the Old Mill area near 3300 South and Highland Drive has charming mid-century homes and a neighborhood commercial district, and Evergreen Park provides a quiet residential pocket with good-sized lots and tree-lined streets. Millcreek is primarily served by Granite School District. Olympus High School (shared with Holladay) serves the east-side neighborhoods and is one of the strongest academic high schools in the state. Evergreen Junior High and multiple elementary schools — including Canyon Rim Academy (a popular charter school), Oakwood Elementary, and Moss Elementary — serve the community. The east-side schools consistently perform well, and the charter school options add educational diversity. Millcreek Canyon is the crown jewel — one of the most popular canyons along the Wasatch Front for hiking, mountain biking (on odd-numbered days), trail running, and cross-country skiing. The canyon charges a small fee which keeps it less crowded than Big or Little Cottonwood. Pipeline Trail and Desolation Trail are local favorites. Within the city, Millcreek Common (a newer community park) hosts events and farmers markets. The 3300 South corridor has become a dining destination with restaurants like Tradition and Provisions. The Brickyard area offers Whole Foods, boutique shopping, and a walkable lifestyle. Pricing in Millcreek reflects the city's central location and canyon access. Condos and smaller homes in Meadowbrook start in the $350K-$450K range, mid-range homes in Old Mill and Evergreen Park run $500K-$800K, and Canyon Rim properties on the east bench command $700K-$1.5M+ depending on lot size and mountain views. I've helped buyers who wanted the walkability of Sugar House with the canyon access of Cottonwood Heights find their perfect fit in Millcreek — the city genuinely occupies a sweet spot between those two neighborhoods in terms of both lifestyle and price. If you love spending weekends in the canyon, want a neighborhood with character and independent restaurants, and prefer a community that feels lived-in rather than newly built, Millcreek is one of my favorite east-side recommendations.
Lifestyle
Big Cottonwood Canyon skiing, Bonneville Shoreline Trail, walkable 3300 South corridor, and eclectic neighborhood character.
Frequently asked questions
How close is Millcreek to skiing?
Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon are roughly 20 minutes from most Millcreek addresses. That makes powder-day morning sessions before work a realistic option — a major draw for ski-oriented buyers who want a primary residence, not a vacation condo.
Is Millcreek a good alternative to Salt Lake City?
Millcreek offers similar canyon access and city convenience at lower price points than SLC's east-bench neighborhoods like the Avenues or Federal Heights. The housing stock has genuine character — bungalows, mid-century homes, and new infill — and the community has its own identity since incorporating in 2016. For buyers who want walkability and mountain proximity without the SLC premium, Millcreek is an excellent option.
